The Cotswolds

Sophisticated village house in Chipping Campden.

Complete renovation of the principal bedroom ensuite for a primary Cotswolds residence.

The Brief

A trusted return, and a bathroom worth the wait.

Area 108 sq ft  | Design & planning 2 months | Execution 3 months

These clients had worked with us before on their London pied-à-terre, and when it came to renovating the principal ensuite of their Cotswolds primary residence, they returned with confidence. The brief was to create a bright, fresh bathroom that felt luxurious and timeless, blending seamlessly with the wider home renovations completed in 2014.

Key requirements included a double vanity, a walk-in shower and the use of luxury materials within a soft, neutral colour palette that would stand the test of time.

The Concept

Calm, considered and quietly beautiful.

Having worked together previously, these clients were happy to follow our lead, trusting that every element would be meticulously considered to deliver a practical and beautifully resolved ensuite. The foundation of the design was creamy Calacatta Amber honed marble floor tiles, which set the tone for the entire colour palette and informed every decision that followed.

The marble inspired the selection of Farrow & Ball Stony Ground for the micro-cement shower recess and wall colour, creating a seamless and calming backdrop. A local craftsman was commissioned to create a bespoke double vanity in polished Calacatta Vegle marble, paired elegantly with polished nickel accents and Kelly Wearstler alabaster wall lights. The result is a quietly beautiful ensuite that feels both indulgent and entirely at home within its Cotswolds setting.
