The Brief
From first home to
family sanctuary.
We were appointed by a newly married couple transitioning from a shared one-bedroom apartment to their first family home. With demanding professional lives, the brief was to create flexible and functional living spaces that would allow them to work from home, entertain friends, host international guests and, most importantly, establish a sanctuary where they could retreat, recharge and build their future together.
Studio Smiths was appointed to deliver a full turnkey service encompassing design direction, FF&E procurement and comprehensive refurbishment management across their five-bedroom home.

The Concept
Relaxed luxury. Quietly considered.
To create a relaxed and calming interior inspired by the effortless elegance of California casual, we focused on soft, neutral colour palettes, organic textures and a restrained approach to decoration, cultivating an environment that feels both warm and deeply inviting.
Timeless materials including oak, marble, leather, linen, boucle and brushed brass were carefully curated to bring a sense of laid-back refinement to every room. In the reception room, a deep aged blue-grey paint creates a cosy retreat where the couple can unwind. For the principal bedroom, a soft gold silk wallpaper adds visual depth and a quietly sophisticated touch, making the space feel both elegant and tranquil.
